First Day

Monday, 16th April 2012

The first day - almost everyone arrived on Saturday or Sunday except Natalie and Pema because of some unexpected issues. ;)

The first day started at 4 o´clock with the introduction of our teachers.
Afterwards, we went on a sight-seeing tour through Budapest. It was very nice and we got a lot of information about the sights and the history of the city. We visited the chain-bridge, the Buda Castle and the Matthias Church.
The stunning view from the top of the castle was awesome.
Furthermore, we went to a very nice restaurant and had a pleasant three-courses meal. The day ended with a very funny night at a local pub with karaoke singing and a lot of fun.

Second day

Tuesday, 16th April 2012

The day started at 10 o’clock with a visit of Budapest Info, the local tourism organization. The presentation, hold by Mr. Gabor Bodis, was mainly about the city marketing of Budapest. We were given a lot of  detailed information about the goals, mission and vision of the organization. Further, he told  about the whole image of Budapest and its development.

Afterwards, we had a very delicate menu at the Rivalda restaurant in the castle district near the Buda Castle. We got a three-course menu which included a tasty salad plate with mozzarella,  chicken with tomato crust and potatoes and as a dessert sponge cake.

In the evening, we went on  a beautiful boat trip on the Danube and enjoyed an impressive view over the city center and the main sights of Buda and Pest.

Third day

Wednesday, 18th April 2012

This morning, we got up very early to leave to the Skycourt Terminal of the Airport from Budapest. At the airport we were warmly welcomed by the director of the terminal with typical hungarian food and a presentation which provided detailed information about the new terminal.
Afterwards, we were guided through the new impressive an architectural terminal.

The next company visit lead us to the Gellert Hotel, a historical hotel in an imposing building from the early 20th century.  Firstly, we had a three-course menu in one of the restaurants of the hotel. After enjoying the meal we were introduced by the hotel's experienced director to the hotel's history and we were shown different kinds of the hotels' rooms categories. Ongoing, the sales manager from the hotel gave us a presentation about the more detailed facts and figures of the luxury hotel.

Finally, we were invited into the Gellert Bath & Spa which is one of the most famous of the in total 12  baths in Budapest.

We had no program in the evening, so that we were able to explore Budapest by ourselves....

Fourth day

 Thursday, 19th April 2012

After a funny night in the hostel with the group, the day started at 9.30 with a visit at the touroperator Continental Travel. We gathered a deeper view into the work of this department and got interesting informaton about touroperating and MICE. This was our last company visit during our stay in Budapest.

In the evening we had a very nice dinner at the restaurant 'Spoon' which is located on a boat on the Danube. The amazing atmosphere with view on the Mathias church and the Buda Castle made the end of our studytrip perfect.

After the dinner, we were able to go out and enjoy one of the last evenings in Budapest.
Some of us left Budapest already on Friday, the rest travelled back to Germany or the Netherlands.

All in all, we were very impressed of this city in Eastern Europe and had a great time with the group and the teachers. We got a completely other view of how a company can be managed and got a lot of new and detailed information about different areas in the tourism branche.
